Picking Paint Colors for the Secret Kids Room – One Room Challenge Week 2

Were you hoping to see paint on the walls this week? We’re not quite there yet because, frankly, I’m feeling intimidated. So we are going to take slow steady steps over these next seven weeks to make sure I don’t end up disappointing myself. (Hooray for doubt….this is a GREAT way to start a blog post!)

We did make progress. Because this room is for the kids, they are helping to make some decisions. And what kid doesn’t want to play with colors.

The plan from last week mentioned the back wall of the space would be color-blocked with warm, soft colors. When the kids and I headed to Lowe’s, the strategy would be to let them grab a myriad of options and surely I would be able to find warm and soft from within the mix.

Here were my options:

Believe it or not, I did find four colors I liked out of this bunch. They are not warm and soft, but they are warm and vibrant.

And because they are bolder, I decided against a solid wall of color. Instead we’ll stencil out large geometric shapes to pop against the white. I had hoped to sketch out that design with Dear Daughter after school one day this week, but she informed me she was too busy. (To her credit, she was too busy playing outside.)

So I will take the little win this week and leave you with a quick mood board of the form and function we plan to add to the room after paint. Links, including paint color names, are below!
